The Shimano Sellus 1-piece Crankbait Cast Rod is made of 24-ton carbon. This increases the sensitivity of the rod as well as creating a balance that makes the rod feel lightweight. The line is strung through aluminum oxide guides onto a nice little hook keeper, and comes with a EVA split handle. At a length of 6’8”, this rod is great for yanking those trout and bass out of the water. The fast action allows for a highly sensitive tip, giving you the chance to react sooner to bites if you wish. In addition, because the rod is a one-piece tool, it will be more sensitive and stronger than 2-piece rods.

Don’t know what crankbait fishing is? In short, it is a fishing rod that is made for casting, and then retrieving almost immediately – casting the lure out and cranking it back. Of course, there are different techniques for this fishing style, including pausing to let the line sink down, and then cranking. This technique is applied because it draws attention to the bait while making it look like a live creature with regular movements.

I would recommend this rod for different users. Of course, only use this rod once you fully understand the strategy of crankbait fishing. This is a fishing rod that you keep in your arsenal for specific conditions.

Company Mini-History

Shimano is a fishing tackle company that is most well known for producing bicycles. One of their most famous sponsorship partnerships is Lance Armstrong. It really isn’t surprising that a bicycle company would produce fishing poles, as both require so much precision to create. In addition, both require gears of some type. Just is also a reason that many fishing tackle companies began as clockmakers.

The company was founded in Sakai City, Japan, near the current headquarters, located in Osaka. Shozaburo Shimano founded the company in 1921 in a town that was mainly known for its blacksmithing of swords and gun barrels. After much success, the fishing tackle division was started in 1970. With Shimano rods, you get the best of their technology, efficient and well-balanced materials, and comfort. Similar to the other sports equipment divisions, the quality of their products rank high across the board.
